Mike Tyson's video supports Florida Amendment 3 for legal marijuana

Over the years, Mike Tyson has been the undisputed heavyweight boxing champion of the world, a convicted rapist, a pigeon fancier, an author, a philanthropist, a Broadway star, an actor, an action figure, a cartoon character, a podcaster, and producer of a YouTube channel.

Additionally, he has long been a marijuana fan and has developed his own line of cannabis products. This month, he released a video voicing his support for Amendment 3, which would legalize recreational marijuana use for adults in Florida.

“Voters of Florida, this is Mike Tyson asking you to support the Third Amendment,” he said, sitting on a bench in a boxing gym. “Like most of you, I support the freedom to purchase, possess and use marijuana without the risk of being incarcerated.”

“So, yes!” he said. “Vote on Amendment 3. Now.”

Does Mike Tyson smoke weed?

Like an undisputed champion.

The former heavyweight champion has stated that he consumes marijuana daily. In 2019, he smoked $40,000 worth of marijuana every month. He smoked weed on the day of his exhibition fight against Roy Jones Jr. in 2020.

“Look, I can't stop smoking,” he said. “I smoked during the fights. I just have to smoke, I'm sorry. I'm a smoker. … I smoke every day. I never stopped smoking.”

In all episodes of his podcast “Hotboxin' with Mike Tyson” he openly smoked marijuana.

He recently said he would give it up for his repeatedly interrupted boxing match against Jake Paul because it took place in Texas, where there are rules for it.

“He only stopped to comply with all the rules,” Joann Mignano, Tyson's press agent, told USA TODAY Sports via email, “but he is still a strong advocate of the medicinal benefits of cannabis for his personal well-being and that of others like him.”

More cannabis products from Mike Tyson's Tyson 2.0 are coming to Florida

In 2016, Tyson founded Tyson Holistic Holdings to produce a variety of products, including edibles and extracts, in partnership with “respected growers.” Two years later, he opened Tyson Ranch, a nearly 1,000-acre resort in California for the cannabis community, where he could host weed-friendly music festivals.

Tyson 2.0, its edibles and marijuana flower brand, is coming to MÜV dispensaries in Florida and Zen Leaf dispensaries in Illinois through a partnership with parent company Verano, the company said in an emailed press release.

“We are thrilled to partner with Verano, a leader in the cannabis industry,” Tyson said in a press release. “This partnership represents a major step forward in our mission to deliver exceptional cannabis experiences to a broader audience. With Verano's unparalleled industry knowledge and resources, we are positioned to make a meaningful impact in Florida and Illinois.”

Tyson 2.0 products include Corkscrew, The Jawbreaker, Pheno Hunt, Mike's Meringue, Dynamite Cookies, Desert Toad and more, but of course his most famous products are Mike Bites, ear-shaped 10mg gummy bears with the bites missing as a nod to Tyson biting off part of Evander Holyfield's ear in 1997 and spitting it on the mat, earning him a disqualification.

Mike Bites are already available in MÜV pharmacies, the press release said, and there are plans to launch vape cartridges in Florida later this year.

Last month, Tysion announced a partnership with Advanced Mycology to launch Mikeadelics, an all-in-one home mushroom growing kit that “aligns with Mike Tyson’s long-standing personal interest in psychedelics,” a press release said.

What is Tyson 2.0?

The Tyson 2.0 brand was created through a partnership between Tyson and Carma HoldCo, a brand house that produces products for cultural icons such as Tyson and former wrestler Ric Flair, according to a press release.

According to the company's website, Tyson 2.0 has spread to the United States and 16 other countries.

What is Amendment 3? What happens if it is adopted?

If Amendment 3, Recreational Marijuana, passes on November 5, anyone 21 and older would be able to use and possess up to 3 ounces of marijuana with no more than 5 grams in concentrated form (with various restrictions). If the amendment passes, the Florida Legislature would have to pass legislation to implement it, and all of this could still face legal obstacles.
