Presto cardholders get CNE discounts, GO adds trains

Going to the ex? Metrolinx is alerting visitors to the Canadian National Exhibition 2024 in Toronto that GO Transit is making it easier for people to get there and Presto cardholders can get some discounts.

Presto Discounts

Presto cardholders can use their membership to get Midway ride tickets and passes at reduced prices, saving up to 44% when purchasing online.

Through the end of Thursday, August 15, Presto cardholders can purchase advance tickets at a 27 percent discount and Midway Ride day tickets, which include admission, at a 44 percent discount.

After Thursday, August 15, discounts are still available, although not as great. Presto card holders save 17 percent on regular admission and 37 percent on day passes that include admission.

Directions

GO Transit is expanding train service on the Lakeshore West and Lakeshore East lines between August 16 and September 2.

Lakeshore West:

New eastbound train services have been added, departing from Oakville GO and stopping at all stations up to Union Station during the late afternoon and evening.
Additionally, new westbound train services have been added, departing from Union Station and stopping at all Oakville GO stations and some Burlington GO stations in the evening.

Lakeshore East:

Another westbound train departs Durham College Oshawa GO at 5:25 p.m. and arrives at Union Station at 6:27 p.m. Passengers can then transfer to the Lakeshore West train, which departs Union Station at 6:55 p.m. and arrives at Exhibition GO at 7:03 p.m.
Additionally, new eastbound train services have been added, departing Union Station at 10:05pm and 10:35pm and stopping at all stations through Durham College Oshawa GO.

Veterans

Veterans and one companion can ride GO Transit and UP Express for free to and from CNE for the Warriors' Day Parade on Saturday, August 17.

Close family members of deceased veterans may also ride for free if they carry something that proves their relationship to the deceased veteran, such as service papers or an identity card.

Passengers are reminded that the One Fare program allows them to transfer for free between GO Transit and most local transit options.
