LOWER MERION TOWNSHIP, PA – Lower Merion police have released details of recent crimes in the township.

The highlighted incidents occurred between July 26 and August 13.

13 August

  • Theft from a Vehicle (Wynnewood) – The victim reported that when he returned to his Nissan this morning, he discovered that the passenger window had been smashed and the interior of the vehicle had been ransacked. The victim stated that he had parked the vehicle on the street in front of the apartment complex the previous evening. The investigation into this incident is ongoing.
  • Theft from a Vehicle (Wynnewood) – While investigating a previous theft from a vehicle, officers found a Honda with the passenger side smashed in and the interior of the vehicle ransacked. The victim stated that he had parked his vehicle on the side of the road in front of his apartment complex the night before. The investigation into the incident is ongoing.
  • Theft from Vehicle (Wynnewood) – During the investigation of the previous incident, a Kia was discovered with the driver's side window smashed and the interior of the vehicle was ransacked. The victim stated that he had parked his vehicle on the side of the road in front of the apartment complex the previous evening. The investigation of this incident is ongoing.
  • Attempted Vehicle Theft (Overbrook Hills) – The victim reported that the rear passenger window of his Hyundai was smashed and the steering column and ignition were damaged. The victim stated that he had parked the vehicle on the side of the road in front of his home the previous night. The investigation into the incident is ongoing.
  • Theft from a Vehicle (Overbrook Hills) – The victim reported discovering the rear door of his Honda slightly open and the interior of the vehicle had been ransacked. The victim stated that he had parked his vehicle on the side of the road in front of his home the night before. The investigation into the incident is ongoing.

  • Attempted Vehicle Theft (Bala Cynwyd) – The victim reported receiving a notification through an app on his phone that there was an attempted theft of his vehicle. The rear passenger window of his GMC was smashed and the vehicle appeared to have been moved. The investigation into the incident is ongoing.
  • Vehicle Theft (Ardmore) – The victim reported his Mazda was stolen from the parking lot of his residence during the overnight hours. The victim stated the vehicle was left unlocked with a key in the vehicle. The investigation into this incident is ongoing.
  • Vehicle Theft (Bala Cynwyd) – The victim reported his Cadillac was stolen from the parking garage of his apartment complex overnight. The investigation into this incident is ongoing.
  • Theft from Vehicle (Bala Cynwyd) – During the investigation of a previous vehicle theft, a Kia was discovered with a broken rear window. The interior of the vehicle was ransacked. The investigation is ongoing.
  • Burglary (Penn Valley) – A burglary was discovered when the homeowners returned to the house and found the entire house had been ransacked. It appears the break-in was made by breaking a rear sliding glass door. The investigation into this incident is ongoing.

8 August

  • Theft from Vehicle (Merion Station) – The victim reported that an unlocked Ford work truck parked on the street in front of her home was broken into and ransacked overnight. Numerous tools were missing from the vehicle. The investigation into the incident is ongoing.

7 August

  • Bicycle Theft (Bala Cynwyd) – The victim reported his bicycle stolen from his residence's parking garage. The bicycle was tied to a fence at the time of the incident. The investigation into this incident is ongoing.

July 30

  • Vehicle Theft (Wynnewood) – The victim reported that his BMW was stolen from the driveway of his residence during the night. The BMW was unlocked and the keys were in the center console. The investigation into this incident is ongoing.
  • Theft from a Vehicle (Wynnewood) – The victim reported that his unlocked Mercedes was broken into and ransacked overnight while parked in the driveway of his home. The investigation into this incident is ongoing.
  • Theft from a Vehicle (Wynnewood) – The victim reported that his unlocked BMW was broken into and ransacked overnight while parked in the driveway of his home. The investigation into this incident is ongoing.

July 28

  • Assault (Ardmore) – The victim was shot multiple times with a pellet gun while running in the street. The perpetrator(s) shot the victim while driving in the street and fled toward Philadelphia. The investigation into this incident is ongoing.

July 26

  • Vehicle Theft (Wynnewood) – The victim reported his Mazda was stolen from his driveway during the overnight hours. The Mazda was reportedly unlocked and the key fob was located in a purse. The incident is under investigation.
  • Vehicle Theft (Wynnewood) – The victim reported his Honda was stolen from outside his home during the overnight hours. The Honda was apparently unlocked and the keys were inside the vehicle. The investigation into this incident is ongoing.
  • Attempted Theft of/from a Vehicle (Wynnewood) – The victim reported receiving RING video of two actors entering her unlocked Toyota and Subaru overnight while they were parked in her driveway. The incident is under investigation.
  • Burglary (Gladwyne) – Between late June and this date, a vacant property was burgled. Entry appears to have been gained through unlocked glass doors at the rear. Investigations are ongoing.
