The National Weather Service in State College issued a flood warning until 12:30 p.m. Friday in Centre County and a regard remains in effect until 6 p.m. after heavy rains from Tropical Storm Debby hit the region.

Local flooding was reported throughout the county.

PennDOT reported that Upper Georges Valley Road between Bible Road and Egg Hill Road in Potter Township is closed due to flooding until at least 3 p.m. Chestnut Grove Road/Bush Hollow Road between Bald Eagle Valley Road in Union Township and Snow Shoe Mountain Road in Boggs Township until at least 5 p.m.

Centre County Emergency Management reported that the following roads were also closed as of Friday morning: the area around 895 Clarence Road, Clarence; Rattlesnake Pike off Spotts Road, Union Township; Rattlesnake Pike off Allegheny Street, Julian; the area around 200 Lyonstown Road, Spring Township; several locations in Unionville

Flooding was also reported on Fox Hollow Road in State College and South Eagle Valley Road in Huston Township.

Motorists are urged to turn around if they encounter flooded roads.

“In hilly terrain, crossings are potentially dangerous during low water levels and heavy rain,” the National Weather Service wrote. “Do not attempt to cross flooded roads. Find an alternate route.”

A total of 5 to 10 centimeters of precipitation is expected by early Friday evening. The heavy rain will ease around 2 p.m. The amount and duration of the storm's precipitation have been downgraded since Thursday. At that time, precipitation of 7.5 to 12.5 centimeters was initially forecast, but now 15 to 18 centimeters are possible.

According to the NWS, streams may continue to rise even after heavy rains have ended.

After the storm passes, we're in for a pleasant weekend with partly sunny skies and highs around 24 degrees Celsius, according to AccuWeather.
