The Crime Beat by Van Jensen & Neal Obermeyer – An underpaid journalist takes revenge on his boss.

  • Van Jensen: “Before I became a comic book writer, I was a crime reporter for a newspaper, and with this story I wanted to revisit that experience, but in an unexpected way. When you write about crime, you inevitably imagine crimes that you could commit yourself. I never put those thoughts into action, but the hero of our story, well…”
  • Neal Obermeyer: “Van and I actually became friends years ago in college when we worked together on the student newspaper. He was a reporter and I was a cartoonist, so it was fun to reconnect this way and bring his words to life visually.”

Psikotika will strike at midnight by Illuminated – A detective tries his best to prevent a major theft he was warned about.

  • Illuminated: “Psikotika Will Strike At Midnight is a crazy heist comic that aims to, and will, elicit bewildered laughter from all who read it.”

Darling doesn't know by John Konrad – Two celebrities believe that murder would solve their problems more easily than divorce.

  • John Konrad: “Darling Doesn't Know is a genre experiment – I wanted to combine the tension of noir with the absurd fun of a screwball comedy. The two romantic leads are both horrible, arrogant people who think they can get away with anything. That makes them perfect for each other, even though they're trying to kill each other.”

Press release: Spike Trotman's Iron Circus Comics – the Midwest's leading publisher of award-winning, critically acclaimed graphic novels, having raised nearly $5 million through crowdfunding – is launching a BackerKit campaign to publish PERFECT CRIME PARTY, a 300+ page, full-color anthology featuring 25 lighthearted tales of criminal activity from over 40 incredible authors, with a cover by Jeff Smith (Bone). About the Publisher

C. Spike Trotman (she/her) – C. Spike Trotman was born in DC, raised in MD, and lives in IL. An artist and writer, she founded Iron Circus Comics in 2007, which has since grown into the region's largest comics publisher. Her notable works include the webcomic Templar, Arizona, the Smut Peddler series of erotic comics anthologies, and Poorcraft, a graphic novel guide to frugal living. An early adopter of Kickstarter, she pioneered the widely used bonus model that has since completely reshaped the pay system of small publishers and kicked off the current renaissance of alt-comics anthologies. Iron Circus is also the first major comics publisher to fully integrate crowdfunding into its business model, inventing one of the most effective uses of new media in comics publishing today.
