For the Rangers, this is the first rain-related game cancellation since June 6, 2022 in Cleveland.

Texas (54-61) let another series slip away after winning the opener against the Houston Astros earlier this week. Houston evened the series when Framber Valdez broke a no-hitter with two outs in the ninth inning on Corey Seager's two-run home run, and a 6-4 victory in the finale gave the Astros a 7-6 lead in the season series. Houston won the Silver Boot trophy for the eighth consecutive year.

If the Rangers are to make the unexpected push into the playoffs and earn a chance to defend their World Series title, a successful tour of the East Coast against the Yankees and Boston Red Sox would be a necessary balance.
