Netflix faces serious anime crisis as fans freak out over leaks

There are a ton of cool Netflix anime coming out this fall, and much of it has been leaked in advance. Screenshots, blurry clips, and in some cases entire episodes appeared online in advance, causing fans to worry about spoilers and call for the streaming platform to pre-release shows. A few days later, Netflix has finally acknowledged the violation, but it doesn't sound like it's changing its plans for releasing anime this fall at all.

“One of our post-production partners was compromised and footage from several of our titles has unfortunately been leaked online,” a Netflix spokesperson said. told IGN just days after the leaks appeared. “Our team is taking aggressive steps to remove the leaks.”

While removing leaked content is one thing, fighting online spoilers in YouTube thumbnails or TikTok videos that push fans out of social media algorithms is another matter entirely. Accordingly IGNThe list of affected shows is quite long and includes Terminator Zero, Heart Stopper Season 3, Ranma ½, Subject: Zero Season 3, Dandadan, Banished, Arcane Season 2 and Plankton – The MovieA SpongeBob SquarePants outsource.

ArcaneThe League of Legends The adaptation of a technologically inspired class struggle between the utopian city of Piltover and its outskirts was hit particularly hard. Next season will be the last However, it doesn't start airing until November. Meanwhile, five full episodes of the steampunk action series have leaked online, and some fans have braved the opportunity to watch them despite the poor quality and internal production watermarks.

Places like the Arcane Subreddit had to go on high alert and ban posts and comments discussing spoilers for the upcoming season, but that wasn't enough. “This subreddit isn't safe either,” said one fan wrote today. “Be careful with comments. I hope to god that wasn't a spoiler and just some lame troll, but be extremely careful. I suggest not scrolling to the bottom of the comments and not tapping to see comments with downvotes.”

Fans of other shows like Ranma ½ And Heart Stopper Others are also frustrated by the leaks and are asking others to stop sharing links to clips or entire episodes, both out of respect for each other and for the creators of the shows. “It took so many hours just to animate 1-3 seconds of editing,” tweeted one person. “If animators can work for hours on an episode, I hope anime fans can also wait patiently for it to be released in the best quality.”

But others are still concerned with the leaks. Dandadanthe upcoming anime adaptation of a shōnen manga about high school kids who use occult powers to fight aliens and fall in love, has already gone through a whole cycle of discussions about its polarizing intro, which is not actually scheduled to air until October. “I hate the Dandadan opening before it even airs is crazy,” wrote a fan. “Stay away.”
