Lottery, casinos and sports betting will contribute $1.585 billion to the state of Maryland in fiscal year 2024

Maryland Lottery and Gaming announced that the Maryland Lottery, along with the state's casinos, sports betting operators and daily fantasy sports operators, donated a total of $1.585 billion to Maryland charitable causes in fiscal year 2024 (July 1, 2023 through June 30, 2024). This is Maryland Lottery and Gaming's second-largest single-year transfer to the state, just 0.25% below the record of $1.589 billion set in fiscal year 2023.

Per Lottery and gambling in Maryland: “Casino gaming contributions to the state totaled $824 million; lottery winnings totaled $699.6 million; and sports betting and daily fantasy sports combined to contribute $61.3 million. In total, lottery, casinos, sports betting and daily fantasy sports contributed an average of $4.3 million per day to state programs and services in fiscal year 2024.

“We delivered exceptional performance in fiscal year 2023, leaving us with a challenging year-on-year comparison in fiscal year 2024,” said John Martin, Maryland's lottery and gaming director. “However, we had another strong year in many ways. The lottery added a new daily game and the sports betting market continued to grow. We are proud of our role in raising funds for important state programs.”
