Ohio State Buckeyes receive bad update on top five-star recruit

The Ohio State Buckeyes had hoped to add a big player to their 2025 recruiting class on the offensive line.

Of course, that piece would come in the form of David Sanders Jr.

Sanders, a five-star recruit from Charlotte, North Carolina, was a top target for Ohio State. Whoever he ends up signing will be getting a massive anchor for their future line.

A new report paints a bad picture of the Buckeyes' chances of getting Sanders.

According to a report by Steve Wiltfong of One3If he had to make a prediction, he believes the Tennessee Volunteers will end up getting Sanders' commitment.

“So when I talk to all my sources and put the information together, my best guess today would be Tennessee. But sometimes I've had Ohio State as my best guess. And then, even early in the process, Georgia was looked at. I never had Clemson in the one-hole (for Sanders). Who knows, maybe we miss Georgia. But today my best guess would be Tennessee.”

The fact that Ohio State isn't even listed in Wiltfong's breakdown is a huge disappointment.

Ryan Day has found ways to land one top recruit after another over the last few years of recruiting, and missing out on Sanders would be tough to swallow.

Currently, Sanders is the second-best player in the nation. He is also clearly the best offensive tackle in the nation.

Although they probably won't get Sanders, Ohio State has to be happy with their 2025 recruiting class. Once again, they are bringing in several elite talents. Sanders would have been just the icing on the cake.

We'll hear more about Sanders and his commitment in the near future. Unfortunately, it doesn't sound like he's coming to the Buckeyes.
